welcome to my life
SOULFISHER Racing is the latest adventure in my journey with God. I consider it an incredible blessing to be able to be a part of a sport that I have long been interested in, but only dreamt possible. I hope that you find this site both interesting and challenging.

My Arm Drop Racing Live experience
Posted (soulfisher) on 07-09-2009

Spent the weekend at Cedar Falls Raceway for Arm Drop Racing Live, you know, like “Pinks All Out”.  It was a blast.  Over 300 cars showed up for the Saturday event.

We ran a three test and tune runs on Friday along with a first qualifying run.  All of them were great runs, with the exception of my second test run where the other lane double bulbed and I let my mind wander for a brief moment forgetting we were running against a pro tree.  Doesn’t work to drop the trans brake and then accelerate unless you weren’t

hoping for a good light, or good times.  Otherwise, the car ran with 1.3x 60’s all weekend and between 10.18 and 10.21 for nearly every run.

Finally on Saturday afternoon, the big event came about. Rich Christensen announced two groups of Quick 8s, not much chance there for me, then three groups of 32 cars, each group running for $3,000, winner takes all.  First group, I’m not in it.  Second group, still not called.  Third group, way deep into the names and then one-twenty-nine.  Woot!  I was called.  But it was about two hours before group 3 got to run, so I spent a lot of time pacing.  Sorry Cedar Falls, didn’t mean to walk a path into your pit area grass.

Finally the time had come.  Got in the car and waited for them to prep the track and we started our engines.  I was in the third pair down the track, lined up against another Fox body Mustang.  Looked like a fair race.  I launched hard on the arm drop and led all the way down the track until the point that mattered, the finish line.  I’m suspecting a little spray in the other car, but hey, run what you brung and run it all out.

I had a blast and will likely be looking for a Pinks All Out competition for next year.  Hey, I might even have a little juice in my car.
